 WHAT ARE CHAKRAS?While chakras are not visible to our eyes here on the physical plane, they have been seen by people for thousands of years in their "mind's eye". Sanskrit is the world's most ancient language known today and is said to be consciously created by "the devine beings" who lived in perfect health and had very long life spans. These people created languages, discovered and named the chakras, and developed yoga ["union" in Sanskrit]. In the Sanskrit language, chakra means wheel of light. These lights are pathways for psychic energy that flow through subtle channels in the spine. The location of the seven main (core) chakras along the spine is said to correspond fairly accurately to places where we have the greatest concentration of nerve endings (nerve 'ganglia') and also to the approximate locale of the glands of our endocrine system. It is through these pathways that the chakras can control and energize the major and vital organs of the physical body. Another interesting association with the chakras is that they connect the Aura to the human body. Just like the Aura has different colors associated with different attributes, the chakras also have corresponding colors. The blue in the chakra connects the blue in the Aura and so on. The various colors of the chakras are of which your sub-conscious/intuition knows is lacking in your Aura at any given time. Below is a detailed listing of the seven core chakras. There are actually about 22 additional chakras in addition to the 7 physical ones [6=emotional body, 7=mental body, and 9=spiritual body].
