Muladhara - The Base ChakraThe base chakra is considered the grounding or primary energy source; the powerful, primal life energy of our kundalini [Sanskrit - animal instincts for self-preservation]. This energy lies coiled like a snake, waiting to be awakened by our divinely inspired higher will so it can climb up our spine and complete the energizing and balacing of our chakras. The base chakra controls, energizes, and strengthens the whole physical body, including the skeletal and muscular systems, the spine, the production and quality of blood producted, the adrenal glands, the sexual organs, and the tissues of the body and of the internal organs. It also affects body heat, general vitality and the growth of infants and children. When this chakra is malfunctioning or in imbalance, any of the following can occur: arthritis, spinal ailments, blood ailments, cancer, bone cancer, leukemia, allergy, growth problems, low vitality, and slow healing of wounds and broken bones.
